Do Punctures in Your Tire Mean They are Irreparable?

If you get a puncture in your tire, the location and the severity can be the deciding factor as to if it can be repaired. The location of the puncture can be the deciding factor. If it is in the tread area and if the puncture is ¼ inch or less, then your tire may be repairable.
If you have more than one puncture, there is still a chance that the tire can be repaired. The punctures must be at least 16 inches apart and if you can’t have more than two punctures.
You will probably need a replacement if the puncture is over a quarter inch in diameter or if the puncture is in the sidewall or shoulder of the tire. If there are more than two punctures in the tire or two punctures are too close together, you can expect to replace your tire.

Does a Run Flat Tire Need to Be Replaced?

Depending on the tire brand and tire type, there may be a chance that a run flat tire can be repaired. For example, Bridgestone DriveGuard tires may endure a run flat a little longer than some others. With the stipulation that the tire you drove on had more than 15PSI and if it was a short trip to get repaired, you may not need to replace the tire.
