AC Refrigerant Leak Service at the Stanley Auto Group

Your air conditioner keeps the cabin of your vehicle cool, so you don’t lose your cool when the sun beats down. If the AC isn’t functioning well in your vehicle, driving can be pretty miserable. This issue can mean that you have a leak in the system preventing the AC refrigerant from doing its job. If you live around Brownwood, Gilmer, or McGregor, bring your vehicle to a Stanley Auto Group location for AC service. Our technicians will inspect your AC for any problems and if they find that something is wrong, they can advise you on how to proceed to remedy the situation.

What’s an AC Leak?

To cool the cabin of your vehicle, it relies on your air conditioning system. This system regulates humidity and keeps the air cool when the mercury rises. To do its job, it requires three primary components to condition your cabin’s air: a condenser, an evaporator, and a compressor. There are other parts to the system, but these are the main components.
The AC uses a colorless and odorless chemical refrigerant that circulates through the AC system where it will change from a liquid to a gas as it moves through the cycle. This process draws in hot, humid air through an evaporator in the cabin, and then it travels to a condenser that is found beneath the hood. Once there, a cooling fan pushes the conditioned air back into the cabin through the evaporator where it is released into your cabin, creating a nice cool environment for you to enjoy your ride more.
Making this process happen is contingent on your refrigerant’s journey through the AC system so it can suck out the hot, sticky air from your cabin and turn it into a breath of cool, fresh air on its return. Anywhere along your AC’s cycle a leak can occur, whether it is a seal cracking, a loose part, or a worn-out or damaged part.  Your refrigerant is a gas at some stages of this cooling cycle, so a small hole, crack, or tear is all that is needed for the refrigerant to leak out. Since it is colorless and odorless, you can’t always see where the leak is. The service technicians use equipment that can diagnose the smallest leak in the system.

Service Your AC System with the Experts at Stanley

Though you may not be able to see the leak, you can detect AC problems with symptoms like the AC blowing out warm air, clicking sounds when the AC is on, or even a dashboard light in some vehicles. You may hear a squealing or whirring noise if a belt is loose or broken. The service technicians can inspect the system and let you know where the problem lies. Sometimes, the system needs to be recharged after being flushed out and cleaned.
