What Models Qualify for Software Updates?

Software updates may be available for Ford vehicles with SYNC 4 or newer versions of the infotainment system. The updates are necessary for two reasons. First, they take care of any issues you may be experiencing with the feature. Secondly, they enhance existing features or add new features.
You can get notified when a new update is available. You also have the option to allow it to update automatically, or you can select the time manually for the update. Some updates require you to leave the engine off for at least 45 minutes. You may choose to schedule those updates to happen overnight or when you won’t be using the vehicle for some time. How to Schedule Updates For Your Ford

Your vehicle should already allow Automatic Updates. All you need to do is go to your settings and turn it on under System Updates. Once you have the automatic updates turned on, they will occur whenever they’re available. If you don’t want the updates to happen without your consent, you can leave the button in the OFF position. You’ll want to schedule the time in System Updates. Go to Schedule Updates and select a day and time. Once you set that time, the updates will occur periodically at that time until you turn it off or change it.
There won’t be updates every time the selected day comes around, but they won’t install until the next time on your selected day. Some updates require Wi-Fi access and connectivity. You will need to have the engine running and access to a local network.
You can check your FordPass account or the Ford owner’s website to see any available updates. Your dashboard will also show you any pending updates. Once the update begins, it can’t be canceled.
